How can we help?

HAL’s top tips for teens and young adults:

At Bend, we’re all about meeting you where you are — content, joyful, fearful, stressed — all of these emotions are normal and valid! We know that full-time happiness is an unattainable goal, so we’re here to give you the tools to help you navigate the full spectrum of emotions.

Here are HAL’s tips to help:

Journal it all out

Writing down our thoughts and feelings can be a powerful tool in observing and processing what we’re experiencing in the moment. And it can improve our mood and lower stress. This is your judgment-free zone to let it ALL out!

Challenge negative self-talk

There is so much power in the words that we tell ourselves, so begin to notice what your inner voice is saying and challenge any negative self-talk. Watch for words like “never” or “always” and try reframing them to more accurate, helpful statements.

Practice mindfulness

Simple breath work is a clinically-proven way to relax the body and mind, decrease heart rate, and lower stress levels. You can try practicing meditation, yoga, or simply taking time to take a few deep breaths throughout your day.

HAL’s top tips for helping your child process their emotions:

As a parent, of course you want to ensure your child is thriving and equipped to handle all that comes their way in life. And while full-time happiness is an unattainable goal, we’re here to give you the tools to help your child understand and navigate ALL of their emotions.

Here are HAL’s tips to help:

Get creative

Coloring can be a great activity to reduce stress. Show off your artistic skills and share a photo to social media tagging @hellobendhealth so we can see your creations.

Model self-love

Kids learn so much from watching the adults around them, so let your child hear you practicing self-love. It may feel strange at first, but it’s one of the single most powerful actions you can take to improve your child’s self-esteem.

Start a gratitude practice

Encourage your child to write down or draw pictures of what they're thankful for. Gratitude is shown to improve our mental and physical well-being. You can model it by journaling right along with them!

Practice deep breathing together

Simple breath work is a clinically-proven way to relax the body and mind, decrease heart rate, and lower stress levels. You can show your child how to put their hand on their belly and chest and to take deep breaths in through the nose, hold, and then out slowly through their mouth.

If you could use help navigating the highs, lows, and in-betweens of emotions, Bend is here to help.

Professional support from the Bend team can build understanding and new skills for a lifetime of wellbeing.
