More support.
More fun.
Better outcomes.
The Summer@Bend program is designed to offer a higher level of care than traditional therapy - while feeling like a summer camp!
With a strong clinical foundation, we incorporate engaging activities that make therapy enjoyable and effective.
Summer@Bend is part of our Acute Stabilization Program, designed to address the challenges of youth ages 8 to 25 at risk of severe depression and anxiety.
The summer program offers a short-term commitment. Enrollments typically last for 4-6 weeks (rolling based on your schedule!), providing intensive support during the summer break without a long-term commitment.
By incorporating enjoyable activities, we keep kids and teens more engaged in their therapy, making the experience both effective and enjoyable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can benefit from the Summer@Bend program?
Kids, teens, and young adults aged 8-25 experiencing depression, anxiety, or related emotional and behavioral challenges that are not appropriately treated with once weekly outpatient care. This includes individuals who need more than traditional therapy as well as those who have recently been discharged from a higher level of care (such as an inpatient hospitalization).
How long does Summer@Bend last?
Most youth enroll in the summer program for 4-6 weeks, with rolling start dates based on individual family schedules. The summer program runs from end of May through beginning of September. Regular Acute Stabilization programs are available during the school year as well.
What’s the difference between an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Summer@Bend?
Although the times and structure are similar to a traditional intensive outpatient program, Summer@Bend is set apart by the breadth of resources available outside of those hours. When enrolled in our Program, you will have access to a suite of videos and activities to use at your convenience to continue treatment throughout the day and receive support during times outside of program hours.
Our summer program offers daytime hours to take advantage of flexible summer schedules for students. It is also designed to complete in 4 to 6 weeks with flexible enrollment dates.
Finally, Bend offers the ability to seamlessly transition care into our outpatient treatment, continuing with a coach, therapist, and psychiatric provider if you choose.
Does Bend Acute Stabilization offer medication management?
Psychiatrists are available for medication management on an additional, as needed basis.
Why virtual care for Summer@Bend?
Virtual care has been proven to be just as effective as traditional in-person care for a wide-variety of mental health disorders. Additionally most families find the convenience of virtual care means less time required traveling to and from treatment.
Do you take insurance for Summer@Bend?
We are able to work with your health insurance company to request coverage for single case agreements and are working to expand in-network benefits with leading insurance providers. We do offer cash pay rates as well.
Unfortunately, at this time Bend's Acute Stabilization services are not covered by Medicaid.
How are the days structured?
The program has nine hours of group time per week over three days, fostering connections between peers and therapists. This is structured as follows:
- Check-in and check-out
a. To both assess for safety and guide that day’s treatment - Sessions/workshops
a. Psycho-education regarding diagnosis and various psychology concepts
b. Learning coping skills to manage stress and emotional disregulation
c. Skill-building activities to practice and retain what was learned
d. Process feelings related to events that have occurred throughout the week
e. Experiential therapies including art, yoga, and mindfulness - One hour individual therapy session
- 30 min family session weekly or one hour every two weeks
How many patients are in a group?
Groups average six to 10 patients. If the group size increases past eight, then skill-building portions are broken into smaller groups for more focused attention.
Is family therapy required?
It is your choice! But we encourage it for the best long-term outcomes.
What if we decide to continue therapy elsewhere after finishing the program?
If you decide to transition your care to another team, we will provide all essential documentation to ensure they are fully informed about your treatment journey.
